About the SMF Archives and Library
The SMF is in the early stage of processing the collection of archival and library materials. The archives, consisting of Sahlan Momo’s personal original papers and the office records from his Rome and The Hague studios, preserves, acquires and contains the most comprehensive body of information on the artist’s life and career. In addition, the Foundation holds Momo’s library, consisting of publications from the artist’s studios, along with oral histories, as well as materials the Foundation is continuing to collect to ultimately provide access to the artist’s papers and make them available on our website to explore together Momo’s artworks.
We are currently undertaking a multiyear project to process, preserve and digitise the archives, and the archives are therefore not yet readily accessible at this time for scholarly research purposes. However, the Foundation, at its discretion, may be able to respond to questions or make selected materials available to scholars, curators, and researchers. Onsite access to the archives and library is by advance appointment. Requests for archival materials should include:
We continue to collect and add to our library and documentation of Momo’s life and work, including reference material, correspondence, photographs and miscellaneous other items. If you possess any such materials, we very much appreciate donations.
Questions regarding the archives, research, and potential donations of papers related to the artist can be emailed here.
